Hmmm!yimmu!!yummy!!!..don't wonder why am exclaiming because you all would join me soon..Good morning Divas,,,,where are they at these time of the day?Hmmm!did I perceive something?yea!and it's coming from........"The Kitchen".
Lolz,I like the kitchen so much and every woman should also love that department of your home, well for me it ain't because I love cooking...hell no!don't judge me jor,I just like it because I can't leave there with an empty stomach,hahahahahaha..There must always be something to eat and for today's section we would be looking at how to make one of our too many delicacies...infact I love my country because the delicacies are too many from our different tribes and I must try some if not all.So what do we have in the goody bag?lemme check....
 PLANTAIN PORRIDGE:
This delicacy leaves my mouth watering every single time and that's not fair but am quite sure am not alone in these,it's a food prepared by the south south and the south east too, although they might have different ways to prepare it,but we would take it 1 step at a time.
INGREDIENTS:
 1. 3 plantains
 2. Palm oil(desired quantity of your choice )
 3. Cray fish(if so desired)
 4. Onion
 5. Fresh pepper
 6. Salt
 7. Seasoning cube
 8. Cow tail or dried catfish(whichever you prefer)
 9. Scent leaves(sliced)
10.Periwinkle (shelled,it's preferable, makes it more of the south south dish).
             HOW TO PREPARE IT
As for me, I like preparing everything I need first before I start the cooking.
Peel the plantain, slice it slanting like it's for frying but it should be a deep cut so it's bigger than the frying cut.You could also slice it round, depends on your choice afterall cooking should be something you enjoy and explore so you can try new things out.slice the onion, blend your fresh pepper and crayfish, wash the periwinkle thoroughly to avoid sand, wash the cowtail with warm water and salt,or the fish whichever you are using.wash the scent leaf and slice it too.Now am set to start cooking and you should be to.
STEPS:
1. Wash the sliced plaintain of your desired shape and boil, the water shouldn't be too much.
2. Boil the cow tail in a different pot until it's soft.
3. When the plantain is soft enough add the cow tail to the plantain and pour in your oil and allow to boil.
4. Add your onion, fresh pepper and crayfish and allow to boil too(at this point if your using the fish this is the point you add it so it doesn't scatter and you won't be able to see it when your dishing the meal).
5. Turn it very well, add salt and your seasoning cube to your taste, and allow for some minutes.
6. Add Ur periwinkle and scent leaf lastly, turn it so it blends well and bring your pot down, because our meal is ready.
Don't forget a glass of cold water or drink, yummy!!ain't it?Well enjoy your meal while we get ready for another episode in our kitchen next week Friday. And please if your tribe also prepares this dish in a different way be free to share with us because we are eager to learn,I in particularly, Lolz,I want to learn how to make all the dishes in Nigeria so feel free to share with us..Have a blissful weekend,TGIF!!!.
